2 Peter 3: 1 5 - 1 6 |
". . . and consider the the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation -- as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, [16] as also in all of his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own distruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures. |
Peter warns in Verse 17: "You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own stedfastness, being led away with error of the wicked; [18] but grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. [NKJ version]
Example One: The law of God was nailed to the cross - Christians today do not need to keep it
Circumcision is nothing and uncircumsicion is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters. 1 Corinthians 7: 19 |
Example Two: The Government is given its authority by God, we must obey man's laws
"Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God." Romans 13: 1 |
SoP Quotation: There is a prospect before us of a continued struggle, at the risk of imprisonment, loss of property, and even of life itself, to defend the law of God, which is made void by the laws of men. In this situation worldly policy will urge an outward compliance with the laws of the land, for the sake of peace and harmony. And there are some who will even urge such a course from the Scripture: “Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers....The powers that be are ordained of God.” [Romans 13:1] { 5T 712.3} Read Chapter 85 - Impending Conflict |
Example Three: Romans 3: 21 to 26
"But now the righteousness of God apart from the law is revealed, being witnessed by the Law and the Prophets, (22) even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference; (23) for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, ( 24) being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus, (25) whom God set forth as a propitiation by his blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness, because in His forbearance God has passed over the sins that were previously committed, (26) to demonstrate at the present time His righteousness, that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus." |
Example four: Galatians 3: 23 - 25
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed. (24) Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. (25) But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster, |
